Graduate Employment Opportunities

A graduate of the Computer Engineering study program is well-prepared to continue their education in second-cycle (Master’s level) university study programs. Graduates can find employment at various levels of management in companies focused on the development, implementation, and operation of information technologies, in industrial enterprises, the education system, banking, transport, healthcare, environmental sectors, and more. They are capable of implementing, installing, and operating enterprise systems, working within implementation teams, and expanding, customizing, and localizing computer and information technology systems. They can cooperate with system users and specialists from other fields. Graduates can also engage in the development of digital systems based on microcomputers and programmable circuits, which qualifies them for roles such as development engineer, design engineer, or technologist.

Admission Requirements

The basic requirement for admission to bachelor’s studies (first-cycle study program) is the completion of full secondary education or full vocational secondary education (pursuant to the Higher Education Act No. 131/2002 Coll., as amended). In the case of a foreign applicant, or a student who has completed secondary education abroad, the requirement is education equivalent to that completed with a school-leaving examination (Maturita) in the Slovak Republic. An applicant who obtained secondary education abroad must submit, along with their university application or no later than at enrollment, a decision on the recognition of their secondary education certificate by the relevant Slovak authority.

Conditions for International Students

International applicants are subject to the same admission requirements as applicants from the Slovak Republic.

International students studying in a language other than the official state language are required to pay tuition fees in accordance with § 92 (8) of the Higher Education Act. The tuition fee is set by UNIZA guidelines and published on the university’s website for the relevant academic year. Applicants from abroad (excluding applicants from the Czech Republic) who wish to study in the state language are required to successfully pass a Slovak language proficiency test at level B1* or higher. This language test is administered on specific dates published by the Institute of Lifelong Learning at UNIZA (ÚCV), and passing the test is a prerequisite for admission. If the applicant has already passed a Slovak language proficiency test at level B1 or higher administered by the Institute of Lifelong Learning at UNIZA, the result will be recognized.

International students studying in Slovak are not required to pay tuition. Applicants from the Czech Republic may use the application form valid in the Czech Republic. For international applicants admitted on the basis of intergovernmental agreements, bilateral contracts, or as government scholarship holders, the conditions outlined in the respective documents apply.
